Why rotate PDF pages
Scanners and phone cameras routinely produce pages lying on their side, and a document that forces the reader to tilt their head reads as careless. Rotation also matters practically: wide tables and charts are usually landscape inside an otherwise portrait report, and printers and e-filing portals honour the stored orientation rather than however you happened to tilt your screen.
About how rotation is stored
Rotating here does not redraw your page. Each PDF page carries a rotation value, and this tool updates that value in the document you loaded, so text stays text and images keep their original resolution — nothing is rasterised or recompressed. That makes it the least invasive of the page tools. It is still a modification, though: saving any changed PDF can invalidate an existing digital signature, and complex bookmarks, links, forms and metadata are not independently verified.
